The rapidly expanding field of immuno-oncology can provide novel cancer treatments that are diverse in origin, spanning from antibody-based therapies such as checkpoint inhibitors to adoptive cell therapies, including CAR-T and CAR-NK cells.  

Although immuno-oncology treatments can be highly effective, there are some limits on the implementation of these new therapies, such as difficulties in predicting which patients are likely to benefit from treatment.  

In addition, there is the high cost and technical challenge associated with phenotyping, purifying, and expanding immune cells from patients. Limitations to low-throughput traditional cell and secreted protein analysis methods, and their lack of the ability to capture dynamic immune cell data, account for some of these challenges.

Consequently, there is a need to use advanced tools to link insights from both immune cell health, phenotype and proliferation, as well as cytokine secretion profiles.  

The development and use of novel cancer therapies, from studies of the immune cell response, can be accelerated by the use of high throughput, multiplexed and streamlined tools, such as advanced flow cytometry. This overcomes the bottlenecks associated with traditional methods.
