Fast Protein Purification
By Ultrafiltration and Membrane Chromatography
This application note presents a fast, easy workflow protein purification from clarified cell culture media. Vivaflow® TFF cassettes were used to concentrate and re-buffer a mock cell culture sample prior to protein purification on Vivapure® cation exchange membrane adsorbers. A final ultrafiltration and diafiltration step with Vivaspin® centrifugal ultrafilters was used to concentrate and desalt the purified protein.
In our example, the total purification process time was less than four hours. Furthermore, with re-usable Vivaflow® TFF cassettes and no need for specialist FPLC equipment to perform ion exchange chromatography, this is a rapid and cost-effective purification strategy for virtually any macromolecule in research and development laboratories.
