Defined, xeno-free, serum-free formulations
Support long-term growth of hMSCs
Maintain hMSC self-renewal and multi-lineage differentiation potential
Drug Master File (DMF) available
PLTGold® Human Platelet Lysate is a xeno-free, animal serum-free product derived from human platelets.
Contains all the growth factors and proteins necessary for hMSC growth
Available in research and clinical grades
Manufactured in a cGMP-compliant facility
Does not require the addition of heparin
Attachment factors are critical for adherence of hMSCs, particularly when grown in serum-free culture.
Xeno-free attachment solution
Facilitate attachment, cell spreading, growth, morphology, differentiation, and motility of hMSCs
Recombinant Trypsin Solutions are animal component-free, defined cell dissociation enzymes that replace porcine trypsin and avoid animal-related variability and contamination.
Ideal for dissociating attachment-dependent cells, such as hMSCs, in both serum-containing and serum-free conditions
Can be directly substituted for trypsin without protocol changes
Optimized for sensitive cell types, a critical characteristic in preventing harsh effects for downstream processing
Whether for basic research, drug discovery, or therapeutic applications, stem cell differentiation requires standardized culture methods to ensure reproducible and reliable results. Sartorius offers a unique line of MSCgo™️ differentiation media.
Serum-free and xeno-free
Effectively differentiate hMSCs into adipocytes, chondrocytes, and osteoblasts
Suitable for hMSC from various sources (hMSC-AT, hMSC-BM, and hMSC-CT)
Contains all the growth factors and supplements
MSC NutriStem® XF Medium promotes superior proliferation and expansion of BM-hMSCs compared to other serum-free and serum-containing media.
MSC NutriStem® XF Medium promotes superior long-term growth of AT-hMSCs compared to other serum-free and serum-containing media.
Immunophenotyping results of AT-hMSCs at passage 2 using FACS analysis. hMSCs cultured in MSC NutriStem® XF Medium were found to be >99% positive for CD73, CD90, and CD105.
Human AT-hMSCs were expanded in MSC NutriStem® XF Medium for 3-5 passages before differentiation. Representative images show stained adipocytes, osteocytes and chondrocytes.

Human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) are adult, multipotent stromal cells with the capacity to differentiate into mesodermal lineages including osteocytes, adipocytes, and chondrocytes, as well ectodermal (neurocytes) and endodermal lineages (hepatocytes). HMSCs are self-renewable (up to six passages), easily accessible, and cultures can expand in vitro with exceptional genomic stability. They have an adherent, fibroblast-like (spindle-cell phenotype), shoal-like pattern.
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), also referred to as mesenchymal stromal cells, are adult stem cells capable of self-renewal and multilineage differentiation. MSCs can differentiate into cells of mesodermal lineages (adipocytes, chondrocytes, and osteoblasts) and non-mesodermal lineages (ectodermal and endodermal, including neuronal cells, cardiomyocytes, hepatocytes, and epithelial cells). The plasticity of MSCs confers benefits in tissue regeneration. MSCs can inhibit the immune system, promote cell survival, and induce angiogenesis among others pleiotropic activities. The immunosuppressive role of MSCs is particularly interesting for clinical use because it confers resistance to rejection by the host immune system after transplantation.
There are known protocols for isolating MSCs from different tissues. The protocols are well-published and the cells can usually be harvested in aesthetic clinics (e.g., during liposuction) and orthopedic wards. The stages include lysis of cells (mainly fibroblast), connective tissue digestion, pull down of MSCs, and seeding.
NutriStem® MSC XF Basal Medium is suitable to use from the earliest stage. The medium should be used after the lysis step and before seeding to wash the cells. The medium should be equilibrated at the incubator. The complete medium is used in the later stages of isolation, and in the proliferation and seeding of the MSCs. You can obtain MSCs from easily accessible sources using minimally invasive methods, and can rapidly expand them in large-scale clinical use for patient-specific, autologous therapies.
